$100,000 Ginger Brew Stakes Draws Competitive Field of Ten
On Saturday at Gulfstream Park, the track will host the $100,000 Ginger Brew Stakes. Restricted to three-year-old fillies, the stakes race will be held at seven and a half furlongs on the turf and has drawn a field of ten with one additional filly entered for the main track only.
Lira has been installed as the morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 for trainer Todd Pletcher. A chestnut daughter of Giant’s Causeway, she was purchased for $170,000 as a yearling and is undefeated from two career starts. After breaking her maiden in her debut, she came back to win the Wait a While Stakes at Gulfstream Park West in her next outing. Javier Castellano will be aboard and they will break from post position three.
Pricetoperfection back from Breeders' Cup
Second choice at morning line odds of 3-1 is Pricetoperfection for trainer Chad Brown. A bay daughter of Temple City, she has one win from three starts and will be trying for her first stakes victory. She broke her maiden in her second career start in October at Belmont Park and went on to finish ninth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1). Joel Rosario will be in the irons and they will break from the outside post.
Stakes debut for well-bred Module
Also in the field at morning line odds of 8-1 is Module for trainer William Mott. A bay daughter of Harlan’s Holiday, she will be stepping up to stakes competition for the first time for owner Juddmonte Farms. She has improved with each career start and broke her maiden last time out at Aqueduct in her third attempt. John Velazquez will be aboard and they will break from post position nine as she goes for two in a row.
