Heart to Heart Facing Eight Rivals in $300,000 Maker's 46 Mile Stakes
On Friday at Keeneland, the featured race is the $300,000 Makers 46 Mile Stakes. Scheduled to be run at one mile on the turf, the Grade 1 event has drawn a wide open field of nine contenders.
Heart to Heart has been installed as the morning line favorite at odds of 6-5 for trainer Brian Lynch. A five-year-old son of English Channel, he was Canada’s champion three-year-old in 2014 and is a nine-time career winner. He is coming into this race off of three consecutive victories against graded stakes company and was last seen winning the Canadian Turf Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park. Julian Leparoux will be aboard and they will break from post position three.
Tourist returning off of a layoff
Second choice at morning line odds of 7-2 is Tourist for trainer Bill Mott. A five-year-old son of Tiznow bred and owned in partnership by WinStar Farm, he has been on the board in eight of his twelve starts and is trying to earn his first graded stakes win and fifth career victory. He has been on the shelf since finishing eighth in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) and will break from post four under jockey Jose Lezcano.
Miss Temple City a filly taking on the boys
Also in the field at morning line odds of 12-1 is Miss Temple City, the lone filly in the race taking on male rivals. Trained by Graham Motion, the four-year-old daughter of Temple City has been on the board in eight of her nine starts and is a three-time winner. She is returning to the races off of a six-month layoff and has been training steadily. Drayden Van Dyke will be aboard from post position two.
