
Home Run Kitten Tops Field for $100,000 San Simeon Stakes
Home Run Kitten tops the field as the morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 for trainer David Hofmans. A four-year-old son of Kitten’s Joy, the chestnut colt has won four of his thirteen starts and is a graded stakes winner. He has been third in both starts this year, most recently in the Frank E. Kilroe Mile (G1) and will cut back in distance. Gary Stevens will be aboard and they will break from post two.
Holy Lute trying to rebound after poor last race
Second choice at 3-1 on the morning line is Holy Lute for trainer James Cassidy. A five-year-old son of Midnight Lute, he has won three of his thirteen starts and is trying to earn the first graded stakes victory of his career. He stepped back up to graded stakes competition last time out after winning an optional claiming race and finished seventh in the Frank E. Kilroe Mile (G1). Mike Smith will be in the irons from post position five.
U S Citizen getting a class test against graded stakes company
Also in the field at morning line odds of 6-1 is U S Citizen for trainer Peter Miller. A gelded son of Proud Citizen, the six-year-old is a four time winner and trying to earn his first black-type victory. He was second against optional claiming competition last time out and has been on the board in four of his five starts this year. He will get a jockey change to Victor Espinoza and they will break from post position seven.
